Peter Forrestal reviews new releases

Wine with Peter Forrestal

Peter Forrestal reviews some of Castelli Estate’s first new wine releases and says Castelli is fast becoming one to watch.

“A few months ago, I’d not heard of Castelli. But when I tasted the 2008 Chardonnay, I asked: “Who are these guys?”
Sam Castelli came here in 1968 from an Italian village in the Lazio region where his parents still run a mixed farm including vines. His Mt Shadforth winery, near Denmark, is run by the talented Mike Garland and the label has been driven by Sam’s son, Luca, with Larry Cherubino involved as a consultant. Sam oversees the operation, which is fast becoming one to watch.
